Wingate School Charity Week


The school will be involved in several charity events from the 8th of April to the 12th of April 2019

AECC Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer : The school choir have recorded a CD price 5€ each and the Infants are organising a sponsored spelling challenge as well as sponsored bug box challenge.

Asociación Autismo Sur: Juniors will be organising a pyjama day, bingo and bake sale. Mrs Estevez will also be participating in a 10k run.

Tommy´s Charity: Funding research in saving babies lives : Mrs Thompson´s daughter and husband will be taking part in the Brighton marathon in aid of this charity – any sponsors greatly appreciated please see any of the office staff.

FACT (Fight against cancer): Year 7 pupils will be holding a ¨funfair¨ on Wednesday the 10th of April for senior pupils. This will involve the year 7s setting up little fun games and snack stalls for pupils to take part in - please send any senior pupils in with a bit of money if they would like to take part. Junior pupils will be taking part in Sports Day on the Weds but if they would like to donate money to FACT senior pupils will be walking around with buckets asking for donations during the week.

Food Bank: Year 8s - Pupils are working with a Food Bank. They are very passionate about this cause and have written the attached letter urging pupils (and their parents) to bring in donations of food that can be kept (not fresh food) pasta, rice etc would be great. Please start sending this food in from today, pupils will be taking the food on Friday the 12th April.

Beach Clean: Year 9 and 10s - Pupils are doing a beach clean. They are very passionate about single use plastics and decreasing their use. They will be cleaning the beaches on Friday 12th April and will give a presentation to pupils about what they have done and why after the Easter break.
Live Arico Animal Welfare: Year 11s - Working with Live Arico - a dog charity who look after abandoned dogs on Tenerife. They are asking for pupils to bring in dog food, blankets and toys for dogs of all different ages. They will be donating what they collect on Friday 12th of April as well as helping out at the shelter on that day.
