Annual Toy collection

Dear Wingate Parents,

As has been tradition at Wingate school, we are once again conducting our annual Toy Collection. In this, we partner up with the local Tenerife Lions foundation to provide orphaned children with a little Christmas of their own. We collect all suitable toys, repackage them and then give them out to the many orphanages on the island. However in order for this to be successful we rely solely on the kind-heartedness of you, the very parents that make this school special.

Therefore, at this point, I would like to ask you to please participate and look for any unused toys you may have lying around your house. Truly, any sort of gift can help, as even the unsuitable toys will be sold and the revenue will be donated to the Lions foundation.

We are looking for anything ranging from books (in any language), toy cars, dinosaurs, teddy bears, balls, sports equipment, and almost anything that can be considered a nice caring gift. The children receiving the gifts range in age from 3 to 17, so we are preferably looking for a wide variety of toys. If you are feeling especially generous, any new toys or donations will also be wholeheartedly accepted. Furthermore, for any questions, please don’t be shy to approach the Year 12 student council heads Elena Timoshenko and Juan Pablo Morales.

All gifts are to be brought in and dropped of in The Sixth Form Common Room or in the School Office during school time. It is VERY IMPORTANT that all gifts be gift wrapped and labelled with boy / girl and age group, as the deadline for collection will be three weeks from now, we ask anyone wanting to participate to please bring in toys as soon as possible and to ask around your local community and friend circle for donations as well. We thank you parents for being part of this annual event and hope that together we can make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate.

With all the best wishes,

Tobias Luken
